George Fury

George Fury is the Property & Maintenance of Way Manager for the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority (JRA), and manages 200+ miles of running track, and 25 miles of yard trackage, in 11 counties in the central Pennsylvania region.  George began his railroad career in 1979 as a trackman on the Octoraro Railway (OCTR). Over the 5 years spent on the OCTR, George became the track supervisor and ran all trains the last 3 years of the OCTR's life.  George returned to college in 1984 and matriculated from Wilmington College of Ohio in 1989 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Athletic Training and in Biology.  The North Shore Railroad Company (NSHR) employed George during his college stint.  George left railroading for 10 years to pursue a career as a professional athletic trainer and strength coach, but returned to the NSHR in 2000, as its Administrator of Maintenance and later as the Superintendent of Track.  George joined the JRA on March 5, 2008.

George has hosted the Eastern Region Seminar in 2008, 2013, and 2015.

George lives in Selinsgrove, PA., is involved with his church, and enjoys gardening, cooking, sports, reading, and singing.
